Rs. 200M worth gold smuggled : Two including airport worker arrested

Two suspects have been arrested for attempting to smuggle 9.5 kg of gold biscuits worth over Rs. 200 million into Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Customs said the suspects have been identified as an airline passenger and a female staff member of the Duty-Free shop at the Katunayake airport.

The detection was made by the officers attached to the Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs at the airport after the passenger had arrived from Dubai by flight EK650.

The officials had seized around 80 gold biscuits from the possession of the suspects while officers attached to the Narcotics Control Unit are conducting further investigations. (NewsWire)
