9 new laws to be introduced to stabilize SL economy

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has proposed the introduction of 09 new laws in the Interim Budget 2022. 

The President said the laws will be introduced in order to stabilize the economy and facilitate the growth process.

He said thereby, it has been proposed to make appropriate revisions and introduce new laws to make reforms expeditiously in a short period of time.

Following are the new laws to be introduced: 

  1. Food Security Bill 
  2. Public Asset Management Bill
  3. Economic Stabilisation Bill
  4. Offshore Economic Management Bill 
  5. Public Service Employment Bill 
  6. Public Finance Management Bill
  7. The Recovery of Possession of the Premises Given on Lease (Special Provisions) Bill
  8. Contributory National Pension Fund Bill
  9. Agency for Overseas Sri Lankans Bill

Following are the laws to undergo revision

  1. Amendments to Agrarian Development Act 
  2. Amendments to Excise Ordinance
  3. Amendments to Finance Act
  4. Amendments to Foreign Exchange Act (NewsWire)
