Budget vote : SJB & SLPP faction to refrain from voting

Several political factions have decided to abstain from voting for the Interim Budget 2022 in Parliament today. 

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said the SJB has decided to refrain from voting for the Interim Budget 2022.

The 13 Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MPs who crossed over to the Opposition have also decided to refrain from voting today.

SLPP MP Professor G.L. Peiris said the group of 13 SLPP MPs including himself and Dullas Alahapperuma will not vote for the Interim Budget 2022.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe presented the second reading of the Appropriation (Amendment) Bill 2022 to Parliament on Tuesday, the 30th of August 2022.

After being taken up for debate over the last 2 days, a vote is to be held on the  Interim Budget 2022 in Parliament today. (NewsWire)
