The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory for heavy rains for the next 24 hours starting from 10.00 am today.
The department said showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Very heavy showers above 150mm may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
The Department of Meteorology has also issued a weather advisory for strong winds and rough seas for the next 24 hours starting from 09.30 am today.
Therefore, it has been advised not to venture into fishing and naval activities during the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 1214 people from 325 families have been severely affected due to the prevalent inclement weather in the country.
The Disaster Management Centre said that no deaths have been reported as yet, while 03 persons have been injured as of today (05) due to the adverse weather conditions. (NewsWire)
