Over 10,000 affected due to inclement weather

Over 10,000 persons from 09 districts have been affected due to the prevalent inclement weather conditions in Sri Lanka. 

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said that 10,885 persons from 2729 families have been severely affected. 

The affected are from the Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Gampaha, Colombo, Kalutara, Kandy, Matale, and Nuwara Eliya districts.

One person has been reported dead, while 02 persons have been injured as of 06.00 am today. 

The DMC further said that 237 persons from 69 families have been moved to 09 temporary safety shelters. 

Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology says showers will continue in various parts of Sri Lanka today as well.  (NewsWire)
