SL debt : Lazard commences talks with foreign creditors

Financial Advisory group Lazard has commenced talks with three foreign creditors pertaining to Sri Lanka’s debt restructuring, Acting Cabinet spokesman and Minister Ramesh Pathirana revealed today. 

Addressing the weekly post- Cabinet media briefing, the Minister said Financial Advisory group Lazard has commenced talks with India, China, and Japan.

The discussion is focused on restructuring Sri Lanka’s debt as the country seeks a financial bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), he said. 

Lazard was hired by Sri Lanka in May along with international lawyers Clifford Chance to guide the Sri Lankan government through the process of debt restructuring. (NewsWire)
