EV permits for other dollar earning sectors : Manusha writes to President

Minister of Foreign Employment and Labour Manusha Nanayakkara has made a written request from President Ranil Wickremesinghe pertaining to the electric vehicle import licences for citizens who generate foreign remittances into Sri Lanka. 

As the government introduced an electric vehicle import scheme for Sri Lankan migrant workers, concerns were raised by Sri Lankans working for foreign companies while residing in the country.

Requests were made for the electric vehicle import scheme to be made eligible for Sri Lankans working for overseas companies and generating foreign remittances into the country.

Taking into consideration the request, Minister Nanayakkara had promised to raise the matter with the President. 

Keeping his promise, the Minister had discussed the matter with the President, revealing that the President had responded favourably.

As a follow-up measure, the Minister has made a written request from the President in this regard.

“Regardless where you work if you get paid, generate USD you will be entitled to a license to import an #ElectricVehicles,” he Tweeted. (NewsWire)
