President Ranil Wickremesinghe will leave for the United Kingdom (UK) tomorrow (17) to attend the funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II.
The President will leave Sri Lanka early on Saturday morning and will participate in the funeral that will be held at Westminster Hall, London on Monday (19).
The UK’s longest-serving monarch Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years.
She died peacefully at her Scottish estate last week (08), where she had spent much of the summer.
The public in the UK will be able to file past the coffin 24 hours a day until the monarch’s funeral on Monday- September 19.
Sri Lanka has declared Monday a day of mourning, while state institutions and schools have been granted leave in honour of the late queen. (NewsWire)
