The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for thundershowers with severe lightning for 13 districts effective until 11.00 pm on Monday.
Thereby, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are expected in several places in the Northern and North-central provinces and in the Trincomalee, Matale, Puttalam, Monaragala, and Batticaloa districts.
The department said fairly heavy showers above 75 mm may occur at some places in these areas.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers and the public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity. (NewsWire)
