A suspect has been arrested over the sexual abuse and murder of a 15-year-old schoolgirl, 13 years after the incident.
The Police said the man was arrested in the Paleegala area yesterday by officials from the Eheliyagoda Police.
They further said that the suspect has been arrested for the crime based on DNA evidence.
Investigations have revealed that the man had molested the girl who was returning home from school in the Kosgahamukalana area in Eheliyagoda in 2009.
The Police said a case is currently being heard against the murderer at the Avissawella Court.
The suspect has been identified as a 39-year-old resident of Eheliyagoda. He will be produced before the Avissawella Magistrate’s Court today. (NewsWire)
