The price of wheat flour will be increased by importing companies due to the implementation of the Social Security Contribution Levy, the All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association said today.

The Association said that the two primary wheat flour companies of Sri Lanka have, therefore, decided to increase the price of a kilo of wheat flour by Rs. 13.

The All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association said thereby, the price of a loaf of bread will also be required to be increased by Rs. 10.

On Monday, Minister of Trade Nalin Fernando told Parliament that measures will be taken to reduce the price of wheat flour during the course of this week.

The minister said that it is expected to reduce the price of a kilo of wheat flour by Rs. 250.
