World Bank appreciates Govt’s efforts to revive economy

The World Bank is closely monitoring the economic situation in Sri Lanka, World Bank Country Director for Sri Lanka Faris Hadad Zervos said.

The Finance Ministry said Zervos revealed that the World Bank appreciates the government’s initiatives to revive the economy of the country. 

He said that the government is demonstrating its commitment by taking various measures to restore the collapsed economy.

The World Bank Country Director further encouraged the Sri Lankan Government to continue on their path of further governance reforms, a comprehensive debt restructuring, and progress on an IMF program. 

Faris Hadad Zervos expressed these views in a special discussion held with the State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe at the Finance Ministry yesterday (03).

Secretary to the Treasury, Mahinda Siriwardena, Director General / Department of External Resources, Ajith Abeysekera, Director General / Department of Fiscal Policy, Kapila Senanayake, and other officials also participated in the discussion. (NewsWire)
