A 19-year-old youth has died after the car he was travelling in had met with an accident after hitting a culvert in the Nambapana area in Ingiriya.
The Police said the victim was travelling with two others in the car at the time of the accident and they had been returning after attending a party.
The 19-year-old victim had died on the spot, while the other two have been hospitalized with serious injuries.
The Police said the car had travelled from Ingiriya to Ratnapura in high speed and had struck a culvert on the left side of the road due to the driver being unable to control the vehicle.
Following the accident, the youth who was seated in the front passenger seat had died on the spot.
The driver of the vehicle has been admitted to the Horana Base Hospital, while the other passenger who had travelled in the back seat of the vehicle has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.
The Ingiriya Police is conducting further investigations into the accident. (NewsWire)
