Sri Lanka Railways says the amended timetable of office trains plying on the coastal railway lines in the mornings will come into effect from 20th October 2022.
The Railway Department said plans are also underway to amend the timetable of office trains plying in the evening as well.
The department further said the decision has been taken due to a significant increase in passengers which has seen an increase in the time allotted for trains to stop at passing stations.
The dilapidating railway lines between Colombo Fort and Panadura have also resulted in the timetable being amended, it added.
