Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has issued a clarification with regard to the recently revised Roof Top Solar tariff rates.
In a Twitter message today (26), the minister said that the new tariff rates will be applied only to New Roof Top Solar Systems.
Minister Wijesekera added that there will be no change of rates for already signed Power Purchasing Agreements and systems in use.
His clarification comes, following the announcement that the Cabinet has granted approval to revise Roof Top Solar tariff rates.
In a Twitter message yesterday (25), Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that the two-tier current tariff rate of Rs. 22 and Rs. 15.50 will be revised.
He said the two-tier current tariff rates will be revised to a flat rate of Rs. 37 for less than 500KW and Rs. 34.50 for above 500KW Roof Top Solar for 20 years.
The Power and Energy Minister added that tariffs will be adjusted annually based on a formula. (NewsWire)
