33 yr old among 4 accident deaths

Four deaths have been reported due to road accidents in the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 am today (29), the Police said. 

A beggar has died after being knocked down by a van in Kahawatte Town on the Gampola – Pussellawa main road yesterday (28). The man who sustained serious injuries had died after being admitted to the Gampola Hospital. 

The driver of the van has been arrested, while the Gampola Police is conducting further investigations. 

A 58-year-old resident of Kadawatha has died after being knocked down by a  motorcycle last afternoon. The accident had occurred in the Velipillewa area on the Kadawatha- Ganemulla road. 

The pedestrian died after being admitted to the Ragama Hospital, while the motorcyclist has been arrested in connection with the accident.

A 70-year-old resident of Boralesgamuwa has died after the three-wheeler he was travelling in toppled over in the Seeduwa Town on the Colombo – Negombo main road yesterday.

The vehicle had toppled over due to the driver being unable to control it resulting in the passenger who had sustained serious injuries dying after being admitted to the Seeduwa Hospital. 

The driver of the three-wheeler has been arrested over the accident, while the Seeduwa Police is conducting further investigations. 

A 33-year-old woman from Madolsima has died after the three-wheeler she was travelling in collided with a bus plying in the opposite direction in the Halpe area on the Badulla- Bandarawela Road yesterday.

The accident had occurred after the three-wheeler had attempted to overtake a vehicle, resulting in the driver, and two passengers sustaining serious injuries.

The woman had died after being admitted to the Badulla hospital, while the driver of the bus has been arrested in connection with the accident. (NewsWire)
