President meets IMF head at COP27

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has held discussions regarding debt management with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva.

The President’s Director of International Affairs Dinouk Colombage said that the President engaged in the discussion on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP27 in Egypt.

The Finance Minister of Ghana Ken Ofori-Atta and the Speaker of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed also participated in the discussion. 

In May 2022, former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed was appointed to coordinate and assist Sri Lanka in securing relief for the nation from foreign nations. 

The appointment was made by President Ranil Wickremesinghe during his tenure as Prime Minister under former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. (NewsWire)
