The Parliament of Sri Lanka has called for applications for the appointment of persons from the public as members of the Constitutional Council.

According to a notice issued by the Parliament, persons of eminence and integrity who have distinguished themselves in public or professional life and who are not members of any political party are eligible to apply.

Those interested have been requested to send in their Curriculum Vitae prepared in accordance with the sample which is available on the Parliament’s official website www.parliament.lk.

The  Curriculum Vitae must be sent to the Secretary General of Parliament on or before the 28th of November 2022 via registered post.

Meanwhile, veteran policy expert Rohan Samarajiva has criticized the notice issued by the Parliament pertaining to the Constitutional Council.

In a Twitter message, he said, “How idiotic to call for “applications” and not leave open the option of nominations? Few “persons of eminence and integrity” will feel comfortable in submitting applications.” (NewsWire)
