Overseas travel ban on Cabraal extended

The overseas travel ban that was imposed on former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal has been further extended.

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today extended the overseas travel ban till 15th December 2022.

The court issued the order after taking up for consideration a private plaint that was filed by the former Governor of the Southern and Central Provinces, Rajith Keerthi Thennakoon. 

A private plaint was filed against Ajith Nivard Cabraal, accusing him of allegedly misusing state funds during his tenure as the governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka from 2006 to 2015. 

According to Ada Derana, Cabraal’s lawyer had filed an objection today stating that the case cannot proceed. 

Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Rajakaruna has thereafter informed the Plaintiff’s lawyer to submit the objection in writing on the 15th of December. (NewsWire)
