Five more Sri Lankans flee to India

Five more Sri Lankans have fled to India, reaching Dhanuskodi’s first islet at around 5 a.m. on Thursday.

According to The Hindu, the five from the same family are from the Killinochi district in Sri Lanka.

With this, the total number of refugees who have fled to India since Sri Lanka’s economic crisis and are camping at the Special Camp in Mandapam stands at 214. 

A group of ten Sri Lankans were also reported to have clandestinely reached the shores of Rameswaram on Wednesday.

According to Indian media, among them were two men, two women, a youth, and five children. (NewsWire)
