‘Cha Point’ run by Sri Lankan-born entrepreneur Mohamed Izmiyas has won the takeaway & fast food local business annual award adjudicated by the local Council in Sydney, Australia.

Izmiyas, better known as MO DOWN UNDER, decided to revolutionize the bubble tea concept by introducing the ‘Cha Point’ Brand to attract Asian communities.

The concept was introduced with a familiar word to the Asian communities, ‘Cha’ touching on the fact that Tea is known as ‘Cha’ by most Asians.

Amidst extreme difficulties, the ‘Cha Point’ revolution began in the town of Riverwood a Sydney suburb, on 17 July 2019 with a cash-in-hand investment of only $ 6000.

During the COVID – 19 pandemic, which was a mere survival period, ‘Cha Point’ commenced catering exclusively to Bubble Tea lovers locally, which increased dine-in customers above the usual takeaway customers base.

The move, with better interior designs and increased bubble tea varieties not only to the existing Asian customer base but expanded to the western taste buds.

Introducing the innovative twin-cup bubble tea for two people to share sitting on opposite sides to each other became the signature of the ‘Cha Point’ brand, making it boom to ring a bell with a 45% female customer base between 13-23 years.

The driving force behind ‘Cha Point’, MO DOWN UNDER, took the bold decision to open a new branch with the resemblance of a club themed with a dance floor, DJ music, and a 360° selfie booth for photo shoots.

This new venture drove the Google review rating of ‘Cha Point’ to surpass global giants in the market, resulting in ‘Cha Point’ being nominated for the takeaway & fast food local business award.

Contesting with giants owning thousands of branches of all types of cafes, ‘Cha Point’ won the award to further Sri Lanka’s presence in the land of the kangaroos.
