The Board of Directors and Trade Unions of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have agreed to forego bonuses for the year 2022.

Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) Janaka Ratnayake said that the agreement has been reached on the directive of the PUCSL.

He further said this decision by the CEB Board of Directors and Trade Unions will save billion of rupees for Sri Lanka.

The CEB is in the midst of the power crisis currently prevalent in Sri Lanka and is considered a loss-making state entity.

The government is working on implementing several measures to cover the losses of the CEB, including the proposal of an electricity tariff hike. (NewsWire)
