Bambalapitiya major robbery: “Bomba Rishak’ arrested

Two suspects wanted over the robbery and sale of items stolen from the residence of a businessman at Kinross Road in Bambalapitiya have been arrested. 

The Police stated ‘Bomba Rishak’ from Maligawatte was arrested for breaking in and stealing goods from the businessman’s house, while ‘Ukkuwa’ is arrested for purchasing the stolen goods.

The Police stated that the two suspects were arrested with stolen goods worth over Rs. 5 million, adding that the driver of a three-wheeler who had transported the stolen goods had also been arrested.

Following interrogations of the suspects, the Police seized four wristwatches worth Rs. 2 million, 2 gold rings, one iPhone, 10 iPads, one laptop, and a large sum of foreign currencies from their possession.

The Police stated that ‘Bomba Rishak’ had broken into the house of the businessman a few days ago and during investigations into the robbery he had been arrested in R.G Watte in Maligawatte.

Further interrogations of the suspect, had revealed details of ‘Ukkuwa’ who had purchased the stolen goods and he was arrested after the Police had surrounded his house. 

The Police had found the goods that had been stolen from the businessman’s house as well as other stolen goods worth over Rs. 2 million.

The Police stated that the two suspects are severely addicted to drugs, adding that they will be produced in court. (NewsWire)
