The Police fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse a group of protesters on Galle Road in Colpetty today.
A protest march was held by the Inter-University Student’s Federation (IUSF) and several activists in Colombo.
The protest was held to urge the authorities to release IUSF Convenor Wasantha Mudalige who has been detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
Mudalige has been detained under the PTA for over 140 days for his participation in anti-government protests last year (2022). (NewsWire)
