Major bus-van accident : Bus topples down a precipice in the Nanu Oya area in Nuwera Eliya.
“06 persons in the van & the 3-wheeler driver reported dead & 41 school children from Thurstan College, Colombo injured” Director General, DMC said.
“The bus had been carrying students from Thurstan College, Colombo, who had been on an Educational Tour. The bus had been returning to Colombo from Nuwara Eliya when it plunged 40 feet down a precipice in the Nanuoya area, following a collision with a van” Police said in an update.
Minister Jeevan Thondaman says that there were 9 people in the van and only 2 survived.
“Please do not share & circulate disturbing videos of the accident/victims on social media out of respect for the family. The family of the deceased belong to Dickoya, Hatton and are present in the hospital. Please have some empathy and respect towards the situation of the family.” Minister Thondaman said after visiting the Nuwera Eliya hospital. (NewsWire)
