A prison inmate who has been sentenced to death is sitting for the 2022 GCE Advanced Level examination which commenced today, the Department of Prisons stated.
According to the Prisons Department, the inmate had written a book under the title ‘Anushaya Asava’ while serving his prison term.
Although Sri Lanka issues death sentences it is not implemented and is instead served as life sentence.
The department further stated that four more prisoners from the Welikada Prison are also sitting for the 2022/23 GCE Advanced Level Examinations.
The prisoners will sit for the examination at the Magazine Prison examination centre in Welikada.
Meanwhile, an inmate of the Jaffna Prison is also reportedly sitting for the 2022 GCE Advanced Level Examination. (NewsWire)
