Japanese firm ready to take over Beira Lake cleaning project

A Japanese firm has expressed willingness to take over the project to clean and beautify the Colombo Beira Lake for free.

According to The Sunday Observer, discussions in this regard had been held between the President’s Senior Adviser on Climate Change, Ruwan Wijewardene and the company’s representatives at the Presidential Secretariat last week. 

The US$ 3 million project is expected to be completed within six months from the date of commencement.

Attention has been focused on the Beira Lake following a request by the Chief Incumbent of the Gangaramaya temple Ven. Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thera. (NewsWire)
