The Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) says it is ready to extend its support to Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa if the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is willing to conduct a comprehensive study on the impacts of the implementation of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.

Issuing a statement, PHU Leader MP Udaya Gammanpila highlighted the impacts and challenges that could be faced due to the full implementation of the 13th Amendment.

MP Gammanpila pointed out the facts in response to SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa’s recent declaration in Kilinochchi of his intention to fully implement the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.

“Only those who have no understanding of the 13th Amendment are proposing to implement it in its entirety,” MP Gammanpila said.

Condemning MP Premadasa over his declaration, MP Gammanpila said that MP Premadasa must act with greater responsibility as the Opposition Leader when expressing his opinions on matters of national importance.

MP Gammanpila added that the SJB leader wouldn’t have promised full implementation of the 13th Amendment if he was aware of the ground situation in Sri Lanka as well as developments in various parts of the world. (Newswire)
