Air Astana officially commenced operations to Sri Lanka for the winter 2024/2025 season, with its inaugural flight arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on Monday.

The first flight was welcomed with a celebratory water cannon salute organized by Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited (AASL) upon arrival.

Passengers and crew were also greeted with a traditional Kandyan dance performance, coordinated by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.

Air Astana, the flag carrier of Kazakhstan, will launch direct flights to Sri Lanka starting today, December 06, 2023.

The airline announced that it will operate four (04) weekly direct charter flights.
