Four newly appointed members of the Audit Service Commission took the oath of secrecy before Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne in Parliament on Monday (04).

The new members are former Auditor General Gamini Wijesinghe, former Deputy Auditor General G. Thevagnanan, retired Court of Appeal Judge Nihal Sunil Rajapaksa, and retired public officer Ratna Deshapriya.

Under Section 9 of the National Audit Act No. 19 of 2018, members are required to pledge not to disclose audit‑related information to any party in the government or private sector, nor to engage in discussions or make statements, except when directed by a court or Parliament, or as specifically provided under written law.

The ceremony was attended by Audit Service Commission Chairman Auditor General Samudika Jayaratna, Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera, Assistant Secretary General Hansa Abeyratne, and Director of Legislative Services M. Jayalath Perera, along with several other officials. (Newswire)

Applications have been called from interested individuals to fill the forthcoming vacancies in the post of Member of the Audit Service Commission under Article 41B of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

According to a Parliament statement, under Article 153A of the Constitution, the Constitutional Council shall recommend suitable individuals to the President for the following appointments in the post of Member of the Audit Service Commission:

  1. two retired officers of the Auditor-General’s Department, who have held office as a Deputy Auditor-General or above;
  2. a retired judge of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal or the High Court of Sri Lanka; and
  3. a retired Class I officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service.

The applications should be prepared in accordance with the application form, which is available on the website of the Parliament of Sri Lanka ( www.parliament.lk ) with a quick link named ‘Appointment to the post of Member of the Audit Service Commission’. 

The duly completed applications should be sent to:

The Acting Secretary-General of the Constitutional Council, Constitutional Council – Office, Parliament of Sri Lanka, Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte.

The completed applications must be submitted on or before 20 February 2026 by registered post or by email to constitutionalcouncil@parliament.lk
