The Police have sought public help to find a 15-year-old girl reported missing from the Bandaragama area. 

According to the Police, the mother of a girl filed a complaint at the Bandaragama Police Station stating that her daughter had left home without informing anyone and has been missing since 19 December 2025.

The missing girl is a resident of Veerakeppetipola Road, Gungamuwa area, in the Bandaragama Police Division.

Twelve (12) persons have been reported injured in an accident that occurred in the Wewita area along the Bandaragama -Kalutara road when a van carrying a dance troupe collided with the rear of a lorry.

Reports indicate that a three-vehicle collision took place involving a trishaw, the van, and the lorry this afternoon.

Twelve individuals travelling in the van were injured in the accident and have been admitted to the Bandaragama District Hospital. (Newswire)

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with recent shooting incidents in the South and Western Provinces.

Officers from the Special Task Force detained a 31-year-old resident of Lindula in Talawakelle yesterday, acting on information linking him to an attempted shooting in Meetiyagoda the previous day.

Investigators said the man had provided support to the main suspect, who was already in custody along with a T-56 rifle and motorcycle used in the crime. The suspect was handed over to the Agarapatana Police for further inquiries.

Separately, the Kalutara Crimes Division arrested a 23-year-old man from Hirana, Panadura, yesterday in connection with the killing of a man near the Bolgoda bridge in Bandaragama on August 21. 

The suspect was also accused of assisting the main gunman. He was produced before the Bandaragama Police for further investigation. (Newswire)

Police have identified the man shot dead near the Bolgoda Bridge in Bandaragama on Thursday evening as a former prison officer.

The victim, 57-year-old Lalith Kumara Kodagoda, a resident of Panadura, was travelling in a car when two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire using a T-56 rifle, police said. He died at the scene.

Investigators said more than 20 rounds were fired at the victim. Kodagoda had previously been released on bail after being implicated as an informant in the killing of underworld figure Samayan.

Police suspect the attack was carried out as an act of revenge. Bandaragama Police have launched further investigations to apprehend the suspects. (Newswire)
