The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) Secretary Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera, for failing to appear for a court hearing scheduled for today regarding a defamation case.

The case involves allegations of defamation of Islam. The verdict was set to be delivered on Thursday, but Ven. Gnanasara Thera was absent. His lawyer informed the court that he was unable to attend due to ill health.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara postponed the announcement of the verdict to January 9 and ordered the arrest of Ven. Gnanasara Thera to ensure his presence at the next hearing. (NewsWire)
