Five suspects have been arrested for riding motorcycles in a reckless manner and blocking roads in Colombo early last morning (May 14).

The Police stated that eight suspects have been arrested and five motorcycles have been taken into custody by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD).

The suspects, who had organized the event through social media, are reported to have blocked Marine Drive from Lauries’ Road to Wellawatte.

The Police said the suspects are aged between 17- 21 years and are residents of Moratuwa, Mattegoda, Dehiwala, Bandaragama, Madapatha, and Battaramulla. 

The suspects have been informed to appear before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate’s Court on Friday (May 19), after which they had been released on Police bail.
