An inmate of the Boossa Prison has been reported dead after attempting suicide this afternoon, it was reported. 

According to reports, the inmate was placed in a cell holding special category criminals.

He had attempted suicide, after which prison officers had rescued and hospitalised him.

It is reported that he had died after being admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital. (Newswire)

It is reported that the prisoners have been protesting on top of the prison roof since this morning.
