There’s a new kid on the block, and it’s changing how Sri Lankans buy and sell online. MO Marketplace, now home to over 50,000 products and growing fast, has partnered with Koko, Sri Lanka’s Buy Now, Pay Later provider. Shoppers can now split payments into installments right at checkout instead of paying the full amount upfront.
MO has been gaining momentum by doing things differently. It’s Sri Lankan owned and built for the Sri Lankan community, with an app that’s friendlier and more engaging than anything else out there. Listing an item takes under 60 seconds, and browsing actually feels fun.

One of the biggest draws is the AI. Upload a photo of anything you want to sell, and MO’s AI writes the description for you and enhances the image, removing messy backgrounds automatically. It’s opened up a whole new way for people to sell their secondhand items without needing good photos or writing skills.

Businesses are taking notice too. New and small businesses are increasingly choosing to sell on MO because of its low commissions. While most platforms charge sellers 15 to 30% in fees, MO charges just 10%, among the lowest in the market. The app also protects buyer and seller contact details and uses automated logistics partners to confirm delivery before releasing payment.

“Every feature we build comes back to the same question: what’s stopping someone from buying or selling with confidence?” said Anika Wijesuriya, Founder and CEO of MO Marketplace. “For a lot of our buyers, the barrier is trust and the price tag.”

Koko is just as excited about what this means on their end. “MO Marketplace is changing the way people shop by making it easier to find great products, including quality pre-loved items, in one place. At Koko, we want to enable businesses like MO that are creating new ways for people to shop. By giving MO customers the flexibility to pay through Koko, we can make these purchases easier and more manageable. We’re excited to support MO as it continues to grow and give customers a simpler, more flexible way to shop,” said Dinuki Karunatilake, Head of Koko.

With Koko now live on the platform, MO is making it easier than ever to shop and sell with confidence.
