The deadline to place cash deposits for the Presidential Election has concluded, the National Election Commission announced.

According to the Election Commission, the period to place bonds for the election ended at 12 noon today. 

The Election Commission further said a total of four (04) candidates placed deposits today.

As per the Commission, a total of 40 candidates have placed their cash deposits for the 2024 Presidential Election. (Newswire)

A cash deposit has been placed on behalf of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa to contest in the 2024 Presidential Election.

The bond was placed at the National Election Commission by SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam today.

In August, the SLPP announced Namal Rajapaksa as its Presidential candidate for the upcoming Presidential polls. 

As of last evening, a total of 36 candidates had placed cash deposits to contest the Presidential polls.

The 2024 Presidential Election is scheduled for September 21, while Nominations will be accepted on August 15. (Newswire)

Cash deposits have been placed for a total of 17 candidates so far to contest the 2024 Presidential Elections.

Three candidates had placed bonds at the National Election Commission today to contest the elections.

SJB Chairman Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka and former JVP MP Siripala Amarasinghe are among those on behalf of whom cash deposits were made today.
