Cement companies have taken steps to increase prices, marking a fresh burden on the construction industry.

Local manufacturers announced that the price of cement has gone up by between Rs. 150 and Rs. 175.

The hike comes amid broader cost escalations across the sector.

Chairman of the Sri Lanka National Construction Association, Darrington Paul, said prices of key building materials such as sand, stone, and iron have also risen sharply in recent weeks, adding further pressure on ongoing projects. (Newswire)
