The appointments of three chairmen of state-owned institutions were approved by the Parliamentary Committee on High Posts yesterday (26).

The appointments approved by the committee are as follows;

• Dr. D.B.P.H. Dissabandara – Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka
• M.D.C.A. Perera – Chairman of the National Lotteries Board
• Eng. P.V.A. Hemalal – Chairman of Kahatagaha Graphite Lanka Limited

The Parliamentary Committee on High Posts has recommended the appointment of a new Ambassador and High Commissioner.

Accordingly, the Committee on High Posts has recommended the name of Ms. Y.K. Gunasekara as the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Australia.

Furthermore, the Committee on High Posts has also recommended the name of Mrs. S.S. Dissanayake as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has been appointed Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on High Posts.

Addressing Parliament today, Leader of the House Minister Bimal Rathnayake said PM Amarasuriya’s name is being nominated by the government. 

The Committee on High Posts examines the suitability of persons who have been either appointed to any post or nominated to hold office in any post determined by the Cabinet of Ministers and makes recommendations regarding such persons. (Newswire)

The Committee on High Posts approved the appointments of two ministry secretaries and six chairpersons of state institutions recently (12).

According to a Parliament statement, the Committee on High Posts has approved the following appointment:

Ministry Secretaries:

• Mrs. Yamuna Perera -Secretary to the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment.
• Mr. R.M.W.S Samaradivakara – Secretary to the Ministry of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development.

Chairpersons:

• Mr. Sujeewa Rajapaksa – Chairman of the People’s Bank.
• Prof. S.R.D Rosa – Chairman of the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board
• Mr. Ratnasiri Kalupahana – Chairman of the State Engineering Corporation of Sri Lanka
• Eng. A. Galketiya – Chairman of the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB)
• Mrs. Stella Marapana – Chairperson of the Public Performance Board
• Mr. Jayantha Wijeratne – Chairman of the National Aquaculture Development Authority 

The appointments were approved when the Committee on High Posts met in Parliament recently (12) under the chairmanship of the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
