The Sri Lanka Police has received 14 complaints related to the upcoming Local Government Elections in the 24 hours ending at 06.00 am today. 

Among the complaints, 01 has been received regarding election violence, and 13 are concerning election law violations. 

Eight supporters have also been arrested during this period. 

From 03 March to 28 April, the Police have received a total of 412 election-related complaints. 

Among them, 326 are related to election law violations, and 86 are concerning election violence. 

A total of 32 candidates and 137 supporters have been arrested during this period. 

The Police have also seized a total of 31 vehicles.

The Sri Lanka Police have received 30 complaints related to the 2025 Local Government Election in the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 am today.

According to the Police, among the complaints, 09 are related to election violence and 21 are concerning election law violations. 

One candidate and seven supporters have been arrested during this period. 

Meanwhile, the Police have received a total of 398 election-related complaints from 03 March to 28 April.

The Sri Lanka Police has received 04 complaints related to the upcoming Local Government Election, in the 24 hours ending at 06.00 am today. 

According to the Police, 02 complaints have been received related to election violence and two regarding election law violations.

The Police said two candidates and four supporters have been arrested during this period. 

The Sri Lanka Police has received a total of 168 election-related complaints from 03 March 2025 to 16 April 2025. 

Among the complaints, 36 are concerning election violence and 132 are related to election law violations.

The Sri Lanka Police has received six (06) complaints on election law violations related to the upcoming Local Government Elections.

According to the Police, the complaints have been received between 02- 05  April 2025 from various parts of Sri Lanka. 

Two complaints were received on 02 April, one from the Peliyagoda area on the misuse of state properties and another from Ragama on the display of election cutouts.

On 04th April, a complaint was received from Kelaniya on the display of an election cutout. 

Three complaints were received on 05 April, one from Kelaniya on conducting a health camp, and two from Monaragala, with one complaint on the distribution of leaflets of a candidate and the other on displaying images similar to a candidate.

Sri Lanka Police received six (06) election-related complaints on Sunday from four areas ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

The Police received 06 complaints regarding election law violations on Sunday (23 Mar), while no complaints of election violence have been reported during this period.

Three incidents were reported from Matale, where posters and banners with images of candidates, and flags of political parties were displayed. 

A complaint had been received on the distribution of dry foods in the Kebithigollewa area.

Sri Lanka Police has received a total of 173 election-related complaints.

Police Spokesman SDIG Nihal Thalduwa told the media that 119 of the complaints are related to the violation of election laws.

He further said that 54 complaints were received on criminal activities, such as assault and arson, while complaints have also been received related to election propaganda leaflets.

SDIG Thalduwa said that 22 persons have been arrested and four vehicles have been taken into custody in connection to election-related violence complaints.

A total of 836 complaints have been received by the National Election Commission, with 65 of these complaints lodged within the 24 hours ending on Thursday, August 22.

Most of the complaints were related to violations of election laws, the Election Commission said in a statement.

The total number of election-related complaints lodged with the Commission from July 31, 2024, to August 22, 2024, was 836, of which 812 were related to election law violations.

Of these complaints, 409 were received by the National Centre for Election Complaint Management, while the District Centres for Election Complaint Management received 403.
