Twenty-three (23) persons have been injured in an accident reported near the Minnana Junction in Eheliyagoda along the Ratnapura-Avissawella Road this morning.

According to the Police, a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus and a lorry had collided head-on on a bend in the area.

They further said, among the injured persons, 09 are women and 14 are men, while two persons are in critical condition. 

The Police added that the drivers of the bus and lorry are also among the injured persons. (Newswire/ Image-Accident1st)

Two suspects who had transported 90 litres of illicit liquor in a three-wheeler have been apprehended in the Mahingoda area in Eheliyagoda.

According to the Police, the suspects were apprehended during a raid conducted by the Eheliyagoda Police based on a tip-off.

The Police seized 90 litres of illicit liquor transported in three barrels inside a three-wheeler. 

The suspects, aged between 44 and 48 years, are residents of Parakaduwa and Eheliyagoda. (Newswire)
