Speaker Dr. Ashoka Ranwala today informed the Parliament that the certificates of three Bills have been endorsed in terms of the provisions of Article 79 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka.

According to a Parliament statement, the three Bills were endorsed by the Speaker of the previous Parliament.

The certificate on the “National Minimum Wage of Workers (Amendment)” Bill was endorsed on 11th September 2024.

Meanwhile, the certificates on the “Reciprocal Recognition, Registration and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments” and “Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment)” Bills were endorsed on 13th September 2024. (Newswire)

Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana endorsed the certificate on five (05) Bills today (Oct 17).

According to a Parliament statement, the five Bills were passed in Parliament during the previous week.

The Speaker endorsed the certificate on the Bills Civil Procedure Code (Amendment), Elections (Special Provisions), National Eye Bank Trust of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Ports Authority (Amendment) and Civil Aviation (Amendment).

The Parliament statement further said that following the endorsement, the five Bills will be in effect from today, October 17, 2023.

They will be effective as the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Act No. 20 of 2023, Elections (Special Provisions) Act No. 21 of 2023, Sri Lanka National Eye Bank Trust Act No. 22 of 2023, Sri Lanka Ports Authority (Amendment) Act No. 23 of 2023 and the Civil Aviation Services (Amendment) Act No. 24 of 2023.
