The Central Provincial Education Department has launched an investigation into the premature release of Grade 10 exam papers for Science, Mathematics, and English ahead of scheduled third term exams, Mawbima newspaper reported.

Provincial Education Director Nihal Alahakoon said a school principal is under investigation for distributing the papers early, in violation of instructions to hold exams only for Grades 10 and 11.

Due to Cyclone Ditwah, schools were advised to distribute papers for Grades 6 to 9 for discussion only, the report said.

The issue was revealed by SJB’s Thilina Bandara Tennakoon, who said the leaked papers surfaced in Kandy days before the exams. He called for a full investigation into how the papers were accessed. (Newswire)

The teacher who was responsible for leaking the Grade 06 and 07 third-term examination papers of government schools in the North Central Province has been suspended.

The North Central Province Education Secretary Sirimevan Dharmasena said the teacher was interdicted with immediate effect for leaking the exam papers on social media before the exam.

It is reported that the Geology paper of Grades 06 and 07 had been leaked prior to the examination. 

This is the latest examination paper to be leaked in the North Central Province within the last few days.

Initially, the Grade 11 Sinhala Literature third-term examination paper of government schools in the North Central Province was leaked on social media before the exam scheduled for 06 January.

Thereafter, it was reported that the Grade 11 Science and English language third-term examination papers of government schools in the North Central Province had also been leaked prior to the exams scheduled for 07 and 08 January, respectively. 

Following the leaking of examination papers, authorities took measures to suspend the said examinations and postpone them until further notice. (Newswire)

A group of teachers have filed a complaint over the incident of the year-end term test question papers that were to be issued today (Mar 01) by the Western Province Education Department being shared on social media last night.  

The teachers filed the complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) this morning.

The year-end term tests for Western Province schools are currently being held, with the Science examination for Grades 10 and 11 having been scheduled for today.

However, information had come to light that question paper one of the Grade 10 science paper and question paper 2 of the Grade 11 Science question paper had been released on social media platforms between 07.00 pm and 08.00 pm yesterday.

The question papers had reportedly been released in the Homagama, Moratuwa, and Gampaha areas. 

Accordingly, the students had been issued examination papers today that had already been circulated on social media the previous day. (NewsWire)
