Three young Sri Lankan talents have received recognition in Forbes’ prestigious 30 Under 30 Asia list for 2025. 

This annual list honours 300 notable individuals under the age of 30 across various sectors in the Asia-Pacific region. 

The Sri Lankans included in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia list for 2025 are;

• Nikin Matharaarachchi (Social Media, Marketing & Advertising)

In 2021, Nikin Matharaarachchi founded Synapse AI Labs, a Sri Lanka-based company behind the AI-powered social listening tool-Kommon Poll. This tool provides businesses with marketing insights by analyzing keyword performance across multiple online platforms, including news sites, blogs and social media. Kommon Poll was also credited by the John Keells X (JKX) startup accelerator and open innovation program in 2022.   

• Yanika Amarasekera-Siyaguna (Retail & Ecommerce)

Yanika Amarasekera-Siyaguna, an alumna of UC Berkeley and Imperial College London, founded Silver Aisle, Sri Lanka’s first-ever wedding registry, in 2019. Expanding beyond weddings, this e-commerce platform now offers gifts for various occasions as well as experiences in dining, vacation, packages and lessons in horse riding, golf and pottery. In 2023, she also appeared as an independent director of LB Finance, one of Sri Lanka’s largest finance firms. 

• Charith N Silva – The Arts (Art & Style, Food & Drink)

Well-known among the youth of Sri Lanka, Charith N Silva has built a reputation through his cutting-edge videos that showcase him preparing mouthwatering dishes from around the world.

With over 600 videos, his YouTube channel, ‘Wild Cookbook’, launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, played a significant role in directing him in his journey of success. Today, ‘Wild Cookbook’ has become one of Sri Lanka’s largest YouTube channels with over 10 million subscribers. His restaurant, Wildish, opened in November 2024, in Colombo, and also takes part in his reputation as an outstanding individual.

Sri Lankan Chef, Charith N. Silva, the founder of ‘Wild Cookbook’, has been named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia List for 2025.

The 10th annual edition of Forbes’ “30 Under 30 Asia” list features 300 young entrepreneurs, leaders and innovators across the Asia-Pacific region, all under the age of 30. 

Sri Lanka’s Charith N. Silva, known for his cooking videos under the title ‘Wild Cookbook’, has been named in Forbes’ category for The Arts (Art & Style, Food & Drinks).

“Known for videos showing him preparing dishes in outdoor settings, Charith N Silva launched the YouTube channel ‘Wild Cookbook’ in 2020 during the pandemic. Sri Lanka has been named among the top three must-visit destinations for summer ’24 by Forbes, alongside Greece and Mauritius. 

Writing for Forbes, travel blogger Kathleen Peddicord describes Sri Lanka as another island country floating in the Indian Ocean, a land of verdant highlands and stunning beaches. Its appeal is a blend of surf and wellness cultures, similar to Bali before its boom in popularity and resulting over-tourism.

Centers of yoga, reiki, breathwork, and other well-being practices have sprung up around the island in recent years. Some of these centers, like Kalukanda House and Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, combine wellness concepts with luxury-level amenities and accommodations.

Kathleen Peddicord reveals Sri Lanka is a place for nature lovers, home to 22 national parks. Its mountains and thick, subtropical jungles support a wide variety of plant and animal species. Visitors catch glimpses of elephants, otters, sloth bears, and elusive leopards on safari.

The Pekoe Trail, a 186-mile path that was completed in 2023, takes trekkers through the Central Highlands, including local villages, tea plantations, and holy shrines. You can also explore Sri Lanka by train, travelling easily while taking in scenic views and enjoying a unique cultural experience.

Its tourism authority is investing in marketing campaigns to attract more people, while anti-tourism protests heat up in the Canary Islands, Venice, and Amsterdam, among other places.

Stating that Sri Lanka is still recovering from a bombing event, the pandemic, a severe economic crisis, and other recent incidents, Kathleen Peddicord says tourism is a major source of income for the country, and visiting the country can help put cash into the locals’ hands.

Sri Lanka has been ranked fourth among the 10 most Popular Solo Travel Destinations for 2024, as reported by Forbes magazine.

The ranking is the result of a recent survey by Flash Pack, a travel firm that arranges small group excursions for single travellers aged 30 to 50.

“Sri Lanka, the fourth-most popular destination for solo travellers in 2024, gives visitors a chance to experience a major travel trend: slow travel by train. As per Forbes’ list, Sri Lanka has made it to the Best Places to Travel in 2023: Europe/Asia category.

The list has been created with information from leading women travel experts and influencers on their choices for the best international places to travel in 2023.

According to Forbes, Sri Lanka has been chosen by Juliana Broste, a 12x Heartland Emmy Award-winning travel filmmaker and host, showcasing adventures and fun things to do around the world.
