Sri Lanka has recorded a 16% increase in foreign remittances in February 2024 compared to the same period last year. 

Accordingly, Sri Lanka reported US$ 476.2 million in foreign remittances in February 2024.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has reported US$ 345.7 million in tourism earnings in February this year.

Sri Lanka has recorded a workers’ remittance of US dollars 541 million in July 2023, Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara stated.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the Minister stated that the workers’ remittances recorded for July mark a 78% surge compared to last year.

“Cumulative remittances by Sri Lankan global workforce reaches US dollars 3363.6 million,” he added.

According to data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, a total of US dollars 476 million was recorded in workers’ remittances in June 2023, while US dollars 480 million was recorded in May 2023, and US dollars 454 million in April.

The first three months of 2023 saw Sri Lanka Foreign workers’ remittances of US dollars 437.5 million being recorded in January, US dollars 407.4 million in February, and US dollars 568.3 million in March 2023. (NewsWire)
