In a bold move to strengthen its global footprint and digitize cargo operations, SriLankan Cargo has partnered with WebCargo by Freightos, one of the world’s leading digital freight booking platforms. This milestone integration connects Sri Lanka’s national carrier to over 10,000 freight forwarder offices worldwide, unlocking real-time access to bookings, quotes, and payments for cargo space.

The strategic partnership positions SriLankan Cargo as a major player in global logistics, particularly in the growing South Asian trade corridor, while streamlining its services for freight partners globally.

“This partnership is more than a digital upgrade it’s a gateway to thousands of new customers worldwide,” said Chaminda Perera, Head of Cargo at SriLankan Airlines. “By integrating with Freightos, we ensure our cargo solutions are visible right at the heart of the global freight buying process.”

The collaboration enables freight forwarders both large and small to access instant capacity on critical trade routes such as Colombo, South India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Through WebCargo Pay, the integration also democratizes access for non-IATA forwarders by removing traditional barriers like airline credit lines or bank guarantees, empowering SMEs in emerging markets to compete more effectively.

“SriLankan Cargo adds high quality regional capacity to our network at a time when speed, visibility, and agility are essential,” said Zvi Schreiber, CEO of Freightos. “This is a win for freight forwarders moving cargo in and out of South Asia.”

SriLankan Cargo’s decision to join the Freightos ecosystem was officially announced at the prestigious Transport Logistics 2025 trade fair in Munich, Germany. The move also signals SriLankan Airlines’ commitment to digital transformation and global competitiveness in air freight operations.

As a vital hub in South Asia, Colombo is set to play an even greater role in regional consolidation and transshipment logistics, with SriLankan Cargo enhancing connectivity through interlining and partnerships with other major carriers via Freightos’ advanced capabilities.

With this integration, SriLankan Cargo is not only boosting efficiency and reach but also reinforcing Sri Lanka’s position as a strategic logistics hub for Asia and beyond.

SriLankan Cargo, the air freight arm of SriLankan Airlines, has joined WebCargo by Freightos, a leading digital booking and payment platform for international freight.

According to a statement from SriLankan Airlines, the integration allows over 10,000 freight forwarding offices worldwide to seamlessly access SriLankan Cargo’s capacity, request quotations, make bookings and process payments in real time.

“By joining Freightos’ WebCargo platform, we’re not just digitalising our booking process – we’re expanding our reach to thousands of new potential customers,” said Chaminda Perera, Head of Cargo at SriLankan Airlines. “The integration with Freightos’ rate management and procurement tools ensures our services are visible at the critical decision-making stage of the freight buying process.”

“SriLankan Cargo brings high-quality regional capacity into our digital network at a time when agility is key,” said Zvi Schreiber, CEO of Freightos. “By integrating their rates and capacity, forwarders gain instant and enhanced access to critical South Asian trade lanes, including Colombo and India.”

The integration also expands market participation through WebCargo Pay, which allows non-IATA forwarders across Asia to access SriLankan Cargo’s capacity without requiring airline credit lines or bank guarantees. This democratization of access is particularly valuable in emerging markets, where many SME forwarders have historically faced barriers to carrier capacity.

SriLankan Cargo offers extensive coverage across key trade lanes in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Indian Subcontinent, supported by a robust feeder network using Colombo as a consolidation hub.

In addition to offering instant capacity and booking to forwarders, SriLankan Cargo is also leveraging WebCargo by Freightos’ interlining capabilities, enhancing SriLankan’s existing partnerships with major carriers, and eventually allowing forwarders to seamlessly book complex multi-carrier routes while helping partner airlines optimize their load factors.
