Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Chathuranga Abeysinghe yesterday inspected the damage caused to the HDDES factory premises located in the Horana Investment Zone due to a fire. 

In a statement on social media, the Deputy Minister said that the fire that broke out in the HDDES factory premises had been brought under control early this morning.

He further said that the fire was contained with the assistance of fire was contained with the assistance of the Naval and Air Force firefighting teams from Horana, Kalutara, Kotte, and Colombo, and that the fire was contained in just one building.

The Deputy Minister added that according to the factory chief, the modern laboratory equipped with advanced equipment had been completely destroyed by the fire.

Deputy Minister Chathuranga Abeysinghe said that, however, no employees of the HDDES factory, which received the best export award in 2025, have been harmed in the incident. (Newswire)
