A 06-month old infant has died in a home accident in the Thoravil area in Puthukkudiyiruppu, Mullaitivu.

The Police stated that the child had sustained injuries in an accident involving a fire caused by a bottle lamp.

The infant who had been exposed to the fire had succumbed to injuries two days ago (01) after being admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. 

Investigations have revealed that the family of the infant lives in a single-room-like house due to economic difficulties.

The Police stated that the parents of the infant had been outside the room at the time of the incident. (NewsWire)

A seven-month-old female infant has died after getting stuck in a safety fence that was erected around a bed in a house in the Maspanna village in Uva Paranagama.

According to Lankadeepa, the child had died due to injuries sustained after falling off the bed and onto the fence made out of wood.

The mother of the child who was attending to household chores had found the child fallen onto the fence and had rushed her to the hospital during which time she had succumbed to injuries.

The body of the child has been placed at the Diyatalawa Hospital for the postmortem examination, while the Uva Paranagama Police is conducting investigations. (NewsWire)
