The Ministry of Transport and Highways says that construction of 500 kilometres of roads under the i-Road project will recommence this year.

According to the ministry, the project had previously stalled due to the economic crisis and other factors. 

However, it will now resume following discussions between the Ministry of Transport and Highways and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The ministry stated that an allocation of US$ 90 million has been made for the project.

The new phase of development will cover roads that were previously halted across the Eastern, Uva, Western, and Northern Provinces. (Newswire)
