SriLankan Airlines has announced that all flights to Pakistan have been cancelled over safety concerns due to instructions issued regarding the closure of airspace and airports. 

SriLankan Airlines says all flights to Lahore and Karachi have been suspended until further notice. 

The suspension comes amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, which have led to multiple flight cancellations and airspace restrictions in the region. 

SriLankan Airlines has urged passengers booked on Lahore and Karachi flights to contact the airline for further information regarding rescheduling or refunds.

A Sri Lanka Food Festival was held in Karachi, Pakistan in September with a view to showcasing the rich culinary heritage of Sri Lanka.

According to the Sri Lanka Consulate General in Karachi, the event was held in collaboration with the Marriot Hotel and was organized by Quality Event Pvt. Ltd. at the Marriot Hotel in Karachi from 09 to 10 September 2023.  

The Sri Lankan Consulate said in a statement that the food festival showcased authentic Sri Lankan food and Ceylon tea.

The food festival was organized as part of a series of activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Minister of Home Affairs of the Sindh Province in Pakistan Haris Nawaz graced the event as the chief guest. The festival attracted approximately 150 invited guests.

The event featured captivating performances by Chandana Wickramasinghe and the Dancers Guild, as well as Sri Lankan singer Sonal Prabashitha. The performances added a cultural and artistic dimension to the celebration, offering guests a taste of Sri Lanka’s vibrant arts scene.
