The Sri Lanka Navy has seized 02 boats with about 38 kilos of Kerala cannabis, with a street value exceeding Rs. 08 million, during a search operation conducted in the Uchchamunai Lagoon in Kalpitiya yesterday (04).

The boats were seized following a search operation mounted by deploying a naval craft in the Uchchamunai coastal vicinity by SLNS Vijaya in the Northwestern Naval Command.

According to the Navy, the boats loaded with 18 parcels of Kerala cannabis, weighing approximately 38 kilos, were taken into naval custody.

The stock of Kerala cannabis and the bots were handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau, Puttalam, for legal action. (Newswire)

A stock of Kerala Cannabis worth approximately Rs. 21.6 million has been seized in the Maruthankerny area in Vaththirayan, Jaffna.

The Cannabis was seized during a joint operation conducted by the Army and the Nelliady Police Special Task Force early today (31).  

Based on information received by the Army Intelligence Corps in Jaffna, 108 kilograms of illegally transported Kerala Cannabis were found packed in 54 parcels. 

Further investigations are being carried out by the Maruthankerny Police. (Newswire)

The Kilinochchi Police has seized 86 kilos of Kerala Cannabis, valued at Rs. 15 million, from a house in the Dharmapuram area in Puliyapokkanei, Kilinochchi yesterday.

According to the Sri Lanka Army, the stock of narcotics was seized during a raid conducted by the Kilinochchi Special Task Force and Kilinochchi Police, based on information received from the Military Intelligence Unit. 

During the raid, the stock of Kerala Cannabis was found concealed in 40 parcels inside the house. 

A 28-year-old man from Uduvil in Jaffna was arrested along with a modified lorry allegedly used for narcotics transportation.

Two suspects have been apprehended in the area between Paranthan and Elephant Pass in Kilinochcho for transporting 400.4 kilos of Kerala cannabis in a lorry.

The suspects were arrested last night during a raid conducted by Kilinochchi Police, based on a tip-off from Miltary Intelligence. 

The arrested suspects are aged between 34 and 40 years and are residents of Kilinochchi.

The stock of cannabis had been found packed in 182 parcels that had been concealed inside the lorry. 

Preliminary investigations reveal that the lorry had arrived from the Vaddukottai area in Jaffna. (Newswire)
